BUDGET COMMITTEE

Box 226

Little Compton, RI 02837

In order for any department, citizen group, or office to receive money from the town they must receive a majority vote on their request at the Financial Town Meeting, held the third week of May, or at a Special Financial Town Meeting.

The Budget Committee is charged by the Town Charter to aggregate information, investigate all requests for town funds, and recommend a level of funding to the voters so that they can be better informed at the Financial Town Meeting.  The Committee produces a report once a year and mails it to each voter in the town detailing the requests the Town has received and the recommendations the Committee has made.

The members serve a two-year term and are elected at the Financial Town Meeting in May.  The terms are staggered with three members elected in odd numbered years and two in even numbered years.
